It is with great sadness that the family of the late William Philpott announces his passing at home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the age of 89 years.

William was born on December 14, 1933 in Coachman's Cove, NL. He spent his working career at Advocate Mines as a heavy duty mechanic. William raised his family in Baie Verte, NL where he remained until he passed.

William was a lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed his days hunting, fishing and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family in the woods having a "boil-up". He spent many hours in his later years reading books and doing crafts with his home care workers, Gena and Dawn.

His family will always remember his famous words, "oh dear Lord".

William leaves to mourn his wife of 61 years, Gemma (nee Fitzgerald); daughter, Elizabeth (Rick Sparkes); sons, Ken (Lori), Kevin, Andrew (Laurie) and George (Brenda-Lee); he also leaves to mourn with great pride, his grandchildren, Billy Philpott (Katie), Brittany Philpott, (Zack), Scott Philpott , Bradley Philpott (Denicia), Megan Philpott, Dillan Philpott (Gena), Danielle Warford (Cornell), Andrew Sparkes (Emily), Meagan Frampton (Jamie), Jessica Douglas (Steven); his 7 great-grandchildren, Nixon, Aiden, Lennon, Jaxon, Gavin, Grayson and Olivia; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

William is predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth Philpott; parents-in-law, Andrew and Catherine Fitzgerald; brother, Charlie; sister-in-law, Wilma; brother-in-law, Aloysius.

Public visitation took place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, continuing on Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.

A Rosary service took place on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 7 pm.

A Wake service took place on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at 7pm.

The Mass of Christian Burial took place from St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Baie Verte, NL on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 1 pm, with Father Tom Duffenais officiating. Interment followed at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Cemetery, Baie Verte, NL.

The family is requesting that all those attending the visitations, and the funeral service to please WEAR A MASK.
