It is with great sadness that the family of the late William George Champion announces his passing on June 8, 2026 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL aged 81 years.

Bill was born and raised in Botwood, NL. He spent his entire career as a mechanic, a profession he took great pride in. He later moved to British Columbia in 1998. In 2009, he moved to Baie Verte, NL and retired there to be near family. He had a lifelong love of cars and was happiest when he was working with his hands, solving problems and helping others. His knowledge, dedication, and strong work ethic earned the respect of all who knew him.

Bill was a devoted husband and family man who cared deeply for those he loved. He was known for being honest to a fault, a quality that reflected his strong sense of integrity and fairness. He also had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor that could bring a smile to those around him. Whether sharing a joke, or a clever remark, Bill had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease. He was also known for his determination and, at times, a stubborn streak that was simply part of his character. Once Bill set his mind to something, there was little chance of changing it.

Bill had a curious mind and a lifelong fascination with the world around him and reflecting on how Jehovah created things. He was intrigued by the stars and the vastness of the universe, often taking time to marvel at the night sky. He also loved understanding how things worked, a trait that served him well throughout his career as a mechanic. Whether it was an engine, a household gadget, or a complex problem, Bill enjoyed figuring things out and learning something new.

Most importantly, Bill was a man of strong faith. His love for Jehovah and his trust in God's promises were a source of comfort and strength throughout his life. His faith guided his decisions and helped shape the kind, principled man his family and friends came to know and love.

Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are his loving wife, Annie (Toots) Champion; his children Bill Champion (Karen); Lisa Hurley (Peter); Dwayne Champion (Alissa); and his treasured grandchildren Blaine Champion (Julia); Nevada Champion, and Alex Champion; and one great grand child Reid Ross.

He is also lovingly remembered by his brother, Gerald Champion (Faith); his sisters, Ernestine Elliott (Lloyd); and Judy Easton (Jack); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, fellow believers, and friends.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Sarah Champion, and by his brothers, Jim Champion (Margaret) and Allan Champion (Georgina).

While his presence will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved him find comfort in the hope found in God's Word and look forward to the fulfillment of Jehovah's promise of a time when death will be no more. His strong faith in Jehovah remained steadfast throughout his life and was a source of encouragement to many.

The funeral service will take place on Sunday, June 14th, 2026, at 3pm from Baie Verte Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Interment to follow at the Baie Verte Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Cemetery.
