It is with great sadness that the family of the late Viola Gladys Hewlett announces her passing from the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the age of 90 years.

Viola was born on October 16, 1931 to Alexander and Phoebe Hancock in Deer Lake, NL.

Viola came to Baie Verte in the early 1950's to stay with her aunt, Kate Regular which was just supposed to be a holiday. She met the love of her life in church and got a job at a restaurant where she worked for two or three years. She left her job to get married and to start a family.

The rest is history!

Left with a lifetime of precious memories is her husband of almost 67 years, Clayton; son, Allan; daughters, Sylvia Robinson (Barry), Sandra Drover (Michael) and Heather Hynes (Greg); grandchildren, Dawn, Amanda, Robert, Jillian, Schuyler, Jason, Emily, Stephanie, Brian, Leah and Hilarie; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Alexander Hancock (Amy); sisters-in-law, Olivia Hewlett and Helen Lavoilette; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Viola is predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Phoebe Hancock; sisters, Lillian Legge (Norman), Jean Goobie (Roland) and Hersey Clark (Leo); brother, Clouston Hancock (Lila); parents-in-law, Samuel and Irene Hewlett; siblings-in-law, Carrie Trask (Claude), Aldophus Hewlett (Jessie), Augustus Hewlett, Titus Hewlett (Blanche), Bernice Hewlett, Leslie Hewlett, Leo Lavoilette.

Public visitation took place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Baie Verte, NL on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 7-9pm, continuing on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

The funeral service took place from Bethany United Church, Baie Verte, NL on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 2pm with Mrs. Beverly Snow officiating. Interment followed at Bethany United Cemetery, Baie Verte, NL.
