It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Stewart Roland Morey announces his tragic passing in La Scie, NL on Friday, July 12, 2024, aged 69 years.
Stewart (Stew) was born on March 2, 1955 in La Scie, NL to Cluney and Eilleen Morey. Stew started his working life with Roy Burton, later going into carpentry with his friend, Tony Burton. Stew went fishing in the early 90's purchasing his own enterprise in 1998, which he continued to operate with his son, Blair.
Stew never spent a day alone. He enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends whether at his house or cabin. If nobody was there, he would be calling looking for them to come for a coffee, meal or a sing.
Stew's days were spent living, laughing, fishing and hunting. He was the life of the party, filled with humour, wit and fun. He was a friend to all who knew him and loved his family endlessly.
Stew will be greatly missed and forever loved by his family and friends.
Left with a lifetime of precious memories is his spouse of 50 years, Sheila; daughter, Corrine; son, Blair (Amanda); grandchildren, Mandy, Aaron, Kiara, Nathaniel, Peyton and Kennedy; mother-in-law, Beatrice Ward; siblings, Guy Morey (Peggy), Madelin Loder (Danny), Elizabeth Andrews (Wayne); siblings-in-law, Garry Ward (Sandra), Eugene Ward (Maxine), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who are like family.
Stew is predeceased by his parents, Cluney and Eilleen Morey; step-father, George Wheeler; father-in-law, Sidney Ward; brother, Dyson Morey; nephew, Jeffery Gray; brother-in-law, David Loder.
Public visitation will take place from Zion United Church, La Scie, NL on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 2-9 pm.
The Funeral service will take place from Zion United Church, La Scie, NL on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 2 pm with Majors Stan and Debbie Higdon officiating. Interment will follow from The Salvation Army Cemetery, La Scie, NL.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations to assist the family may be sent by e-transfer to sward49@hotmail.com .
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.
