Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of the late Shirley Lillian Eastman announces her passing at her residences in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, aged 83 years.

Shirley leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband, Edward; children, Dennis (Mary), & Cathy (Dave); grandchildren, Lucas, Desiree, Anders, & Deitric; siblings, Gerald (Stella), Bernice, Barbara (Gerald), & Audrey (Ray); as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Shirley is predeceased by her daughter, Jacqui; parents, Eli & Susana Jerrett; siblings, Angus Jerrett, Reginald Jerrett,  Eli Jerrett, & Louise Eastman.

One of Shirley's many gifts were hospitality. Her great ability to make people feel welcome, awesome cooking, and her lively sense of humor left a lasting impression. Our house was known as having a revolving door for anyone.

Shirley was an active member of the Anglican Church Women (ACW) and took great pleasure in her role on the Social Concern Committee, which involved visiting many shut-ins, the sick, and the elderly. She was also a member of the YMCA for many years.  She took pride in her community involvement. Her grandchildren were very important to her and she was so very proud of all four of them.

The family would like to thank the ladies who provided her with the best of home care over the last year and a half. With their daily help and the ever-present dedication and health care services of her friend and family doctor, Dr. Robert Butler, she was able to pass peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

The public visitation will take place Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

The funeral service will take place Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 2 pm from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 21 Church Road, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, with Rev. Robin Trevors officiating.

The interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Union Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

As expression of sympathy donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian National Institute of the Blind.
