It is with love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother on April 13, 2026, at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, NL, aged 84.

Ruby was a devoted wife to her husband Bill and a loving mother to her seven children—five daughters and two sons—who were the center of her world. She dedicated her life to raising her family with quiet strength, care, and unwavering love. Through all of life's ups and downs, she remained a steady and gentle presence in the home she cherished so deeply.

She was known for her remarkable cooking, filling her home with warmth and the comforting aroma of meals made from the heart. Her pea soup, stewed beans, and moose stew with pastry were family favorites, remembered not just for their flavor, but for the love she put into every dish.

A woman of simple joys, Ruby found great happiness in her garden. Each summer, she lovingly tended her flowers and vegetables, taking pride in everything she grew—especially her famously large zucchini. Her home was her pride and joy, a place she continuously cared for with creativity and dedication, repainting, wallpapering, and decorating with her own handmade touches year after year.

Quiet and kind by nature, she was someone who never spoke a harsh word about anyone. Her gentle spirit, warm heart, and enduring love will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Rest peacefully, Mom – you were our home, a life so beautifully lived, a heart so deeply loved.

Ruby leaves to mourn her beloved children; Pauline (Alan), Roxann (Lorne), Angela, Amy (Bob), Scottie (Caralee), Sasha (Barry), grandchildren; Dever, Daniel, Dylon, Mylo, Eric, Erica, Ethan, Victoria, William, Marissa, Quentin, Jackson, Haley (whom she raised as her own daughter), Hanna, Nathan, great-grandchildren; Dallas, Kai, Cooper, Hunter, Braden, Callie, Sophia, David, James, Alex and River, sisters; Millie, Elizabeth, Sadie (Gord), brother; Clement (Liz); sister-in-law, Annie Jacobs; and a large circle of brothers in law and sisters in law.

She was predeceased by her husband; William, son; Roger, son-in-law; Paul, sisters; Edna and Olive, brother; Bob, brothers-in-law; Leonard, Stanley, Hughie, Eric, mother; Jane and father; Chesley.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you think of her when tending a garden, sharing a meal, or simply showing kindness to others.

As per her request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Our family is deeply grateful to the beautiful nurses and all staff at the hospital whose kindness and care made Mom's stay so much more comfortable. Special thanks to Dr. Nakkar for his patience, compassion, support, and care throughout.

The moment that you died my heart was torn in two, one side filled with heartache, the other died with you.  I often lie awake at night, when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane, with tears upon my cheeks.   Remembering you is easy, I do it every day, but missing you is heartache that never goes away.  I hold you tightly within my heart and there you will remain.  Until the joyous day arrives, that we will meet again.
