It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Ronald "Joseph" Payne announces his sudden passing from his family residence in Baie Verte, NL on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the age of 67 years.
Joey was born on July 13, 1955 to William and Clara Payne of Harbour Round.
Joey met the love of his life, Hilda at a young age and were married on April 20, 1989. They had four children, two girls and two boys. Due to God's plan, they were given the opportunity to raise one daughter, Kayla. Later in life they were blessed with two amazing grandkids, Jayden and Kaydance who he loved dearly. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather.
Joey was a very hardworking man who enjoyed making people laugh. He loved being outside fishing, boating, and going for drives. Meeting people for chats was a highlight of his days. He spent his last year taking in his beautiful view while missing his wife and spending time with his grandkids.
He will forever be loved and missed by all who cared for him. Remembered with fond, loving and funny memories and stories by many.
Left to cherish many wonderful memories is his daughter, Kayla Payne (Jeremy Martin), Baie Verte, NL; grandchildren, Jayden and Kaydance Payne, Baie Verte, NL; siblings, Aloysius (Elaine), Ed, Jeanette and Anthony (Stefina); siblings-in-law, Madeline (Bern), Leonie (Gerald), Johnny (Stache), Rose (Jim), Debbie (Gord), Jackie (Morley), Carmelita (Barry), Bernie (Florence), Laurel (Anthony); special friends, Johnny Martin (Donna), Leo Bennett (Barb) and Andrew McCarthy, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Joseph is predeceased by his wife, Hilda Payne; babies, Myles Payne, Brian Payne and Ashley Payne; parents, William and Clara Payne; parents-in-law, Anthony and Elizabeth Jones.
Public visitation took place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Baie Verte, NL on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 7-9pm, continuing on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Family and friends are welcome to bring an instrument along, share a song or story during both evening visitations.
A Rosary Service took place on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 7:30pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial took place from St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Baie Verte, NL on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 1pm. Interment followed at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Cemetery, Baie Verte, NL.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted, or donations may be made in Joseph's memory the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation.
