Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ron Gray announces his passing on September 13, 2026, at the age of 76.

Ron leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his beloved wife, Christine; his children, Tammy (Rick) and Justin (Sandy); his siblings, Maisie (Phil), Debbie (Steve), Cora (Les), Wade (Valda), and Frank (Kathy); his grandchildren, Lauren, Michael, Fox, and Finnley (the light of Poppy's life); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.

He was predeceased by his sister, Donna, and his parents, John and Kate.

Ron spent his career as an Operating Room Technician at Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, retiring in 2004. In 2007, Ron began facing significant health challenges. Through the years, he fought bravely and with great determination, but after a long and courageous battle, his fight has finally come to an end.

Ron had a true passion for sports. He was a devoted Detroit Red Wings fan and an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed both watching and participating. Over the years, he played softball, umpired games, and served as a trainer with the Cataracts and refereed the Old Timers Hockey team. There was hardly a sport that Ron didn't enjoy watching.

One of the most exciting and memorable moments for Ron came in 2009 when Gordie Howe visited their home. Ron treasured the opportunity to meet him and share stories about the sports he loved so much. He also cherished the many friendships he made through his love of sports and enjoyed nothing more than getting together with friends and sharing stories.

Ron especially loved spending his summers at the family summer home in Lumsden, where he made many wonderful memories with those he loved.

Ron will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will live on in the many stories, friendships, and special moments he leaves behind.
