It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of a truly great man, husband, dad, poppy, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend.

Rod passed peacefully away at the age of 56 years with the love of his family surrounding him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, JoAnn (Maloney); children, Matthew, Rodney, Michael, and Carson; brothers, Ed (Eileen), Terry (Marilyn), Dennis (Stephanie) and Darren; sisters, Doreen, Linda (Derek), Verlie (Dennis), Tanya (Roy), and Lisa (Chad); brothers-in-law, Jeff Greene, Marc and Chris Maloney; grandchildren, Noah, Nevaeh, Taylor and Cassandra; a special mother-in-law, mother dearest, Linda Halfyard Greene (Ron).

Rod is predeceased by his parents, Noah & Bessie (Elizabeth) Sooley (Abbott); brother, Wayne.

Rod was a long time employee of TRA and Department of Corrections in Bishop's Falls, NL.  He loved passing his carpentry skills onto others at work. He also loved spending quiet time with his special trailer park friends at Catamaran Park during the summer months and relaxing in his gazebo with Molly.

A heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors of the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre and Health Sciences Complex who brought comfort and we will always be grateful.

Cremation has taken place.

The visitation will take place on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

The funeral service will take place Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11 am from St. Alban's Anglican Church.  Please note there is limited seating. The funeral service will be live streamed at the Anglican Parish of Windsor-Bishop's Falls Facebook page. Click here
