Obituary

It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Rodger John Tilley announces his tragic passing. Rodger passed away suddenly at his family home in Middle Arm, NL on Friday, March 12th, 2021 at the age of 59 years.

Rodger John Tilley was born September 26th, 1961 in Middle Arm, NL. He really loved nature, whether it was casting lines on the salmon river, setting snares in the woods, riding his quad or Bravo through the country to catch the big ones, in a fisherman's stage, 140 miles inside the Arctic Circle off the coat of Greenland buying a 25 lb Atlantic Salmon for $10.00, No place for the fainthearted where late fall storms & darkness availed, or in a nook telling stories with new friends about Newfoundland where he lived & was so proud of. These were the places where he was most happy!

His artwork perfectly encompasses who Rodger was as a person & what inspired him. Throughout his lifetime, Rodger was blessed enough to experience fatherhood to a wonderful daughter, & two granddaughters who he came to know & love unconditionally.

Rodger is predeceased by his father - Augustus Tilley & brothers - Dennis Tilley & Derek Tilley.

Left with fond & loving memories is his life partner - Raquel Walsh; mother - Shirley Tilley; daughter - Megan Tilley (Scott Howell); granddaughters - Quinn & Astrid; brothers - Eugene Tilley (Janette), Charlie Tilley (Sally), sister - Sue Noble (Darren); sisters-in-law - Loretta Tilley-White (Junior) & Rebecca Tilley-Hicks (Jerry). Rodger also leaves to mourn his nieces & nephews - Valene, Murray, Shelley Ann, Dillon, Dane, Donnie, Monica, Clint, Brandi, Blair & Brent. He also leaves his blended family - Raquel's daughter Mercedez (Tyler Rice) & granddaughter - Avery Rice, as well as a very large circle of family & friends.

Due to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, the Public Health Advisory and associated restrictions, we regret to announce that there will be no Public Visitation or Public Funeral Service. Pastor Gary Bartlett conducted a Private Family Funeral Service on Thursday, March 18th, 2021 at Bayview Pentecostal Tabernacle, Middle Arm, NL. Interment followed at Oceanview Interfaith Cemetery, Middle Arm, NL.
