Obituary

It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Robert Neil Jacobs announce his tragic passing on October 11, 2025, in Baie Verte, NL, at the age of 66 years.

Affectionately known to everyone as Bob or Bobby, he was loved by all who knew him. Bob was known for his warm personality and easy smile, always a social butterfly who enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humour; when a good joke hit its mark, his laughter was infectious, and his eyes would seem to disappear entirely. In his later years, he faced challenges with hearing loss, which made crowds difficult, but he never lost his kind and friendly nature.

Bob loved the outdoors and found peace in nature. Whether it was fishing, hunting, or simply being outside, that was where he felt most at home. A true minimalist at heart, he was happiest in a small shed in the woods, with no power or running water, just the quiet comfort of nature around him and the company of close friends like Gary, Ralph and Klaus.

For the past 15 years Bob worked for CEDA, where he made many close friendships. He spoke often and fondly of his coworkers and the memories they shared. His stories from work were always told with pride and laughter, reflecting the respect and camaraderie he felt for his team. This spirit of connection was a hallmark of his professional life; he left every team and workplace with genuine, lasting friends who truly enjoyed working alongside him.

Above all, Bob was immensely proud of his family. He loved his wife, Elaine, his sons, Robbie and Matt, and found immeasurable joy in teaching his grandchildren, Ava, Clark, and Khloe, life's little things and watching them grow. His patience, humour and the love for the simple things in life left a lasting impression on everyone around him. Family visits with his brothers and sisters and in-laws were always filled with warmth and laughter.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Lewis and Emma Jacobs; his in-laws Harvey and Evelyn Wimbleton; siblings Tom (Ada) Jacobs, Ron Jacobs, Eva (Harry) Greene and Gloria Jacobs; and brothers-in-law Ray Wimbleton and Gary Norman.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his devoted wife of 45 years, Elaine; his beloved sons Robbie (Candace) and Matthew (Janine); and his cherished grandchildren Ava, Clark, and Khloe.

He will be dearly missed by his siblings: Jenny, Ralph (Cherry), Edgar (Bernadette), Maxine (Klaus), Joan (Jamie) and Neville, as well as in-laws Marion, Nina, Vivian (Tom), David (Annette) and Tim, along with many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Koda.

Bob's life touched so many, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of calling him their friend.
