It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rita Mary Skanes announces her peaceful passing at the A.M. Guy Memorial Health Centre, Buchans, NL aged 94 years surrounded by loved ones & friends.

Rita leaves to mourn are her son, Leonard (Georgina); daughters, Lori (Jon) Small, Monique; grandchildren, Aaron & Evan; sister, Laura Kennedy; plus a large circle of family & friends.

Rita was predeceased by her parents, Leonard & Leah Thorne; loving husband, Harold; & sister, Violet Lambert.

Rita's number one love was for her family. A gentle compassionate woman who never wanted to see anyone in need. Rita gave her love freely and fully to family and friends. A lover of nature & animals, she had kindness for all living things. Known for her wit and dry sense of humour she loved to laugh, & saw the good in everyone and loved unconditionally.

Rita will be forever loved and missed beyond words.

Public visitation will take place Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm from St. John The Divine Anglican Church, Buchans, NL.

Funeral service will take place Sunday, July 23, 2023 at 2 pm from St. John The Divine Anglican Church, Buchans, NL with Rev. Don Brett officiating.

The interment will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John The Divine Anglican Church, Buchans, NL.
