Obituary

Rick Barker travelled peacefully to his final home on June 6, 2024, at the young age of 65. Born on October 3, 1958, he was a cherished son to his beloved parents, Thomas and Anna. One of 11 children, Rick grew up in a large but loving family, where their two-bedroom house was always filled with affection and warmth.

Rick's hometown of Coachman's Cove held his heart and shaped his life. He found joy in his family, friends, the woods, fishing, sports, and the many memories he made in this beloved town. Rick was known for his generous spirit and willingness to help others, always ready to lend a hand and share whatever he had, often with a smile and a toothpick in his mouth.

At a young age of 23 Rick met Bernice, a hardworking and beautiful woman, who became the love of his life in 1990. Their happiness grew when they welcomed their pride and joy, Cory, into the world. Rick's life was fulfilled; he lived each day to the fullest, carefree and without worry, always ready for an adventure, even if it meant asking his brothers for a drop of gas to make it home on his skidoo from Birchy.

Rick's mischievous side added to the family's fun, from wrestling matches with Cory, covering his teeth with black candy, to Cory chasing, "Bullet"(Rick) around the house. Despite the chaos, Rick and his small family shared an immense love and created countless cherished memories.

In recent years, Huntington's disease took a toll on Rick, but it never overshadowed the wonderful person he was or the positive impact he had on the world. Rick taught everyone around him to be kind, live life to the fullest, and never hesitate to show love. As he often told Bernice, "Now Bern, I am not leaving here until you give me a kiss." Rick's legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Rick is predeceased by his mother and father, Thomas and Anna; his mother-in-law, Beth, his sisters, Teresa, and Ruby and his three brothers, Pad, Charles and Jack; his brother-in-law, Steve and sister-in-law, Beverly.

Left with fond memories is his wife, Bernice, his son, Cory (Nikita); his two grandsons, Max And Zak; his brothers, Jim (Marie), Ray, Wish (Diane) Greg (Goretti) and his sister, Rose (Ron); his father-in-law, Bill; sisters-in-law, Margot (Joe), Selina, Helen and brother-in-law, Glenn (Denise) and Gord; and an extremely large circle of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
