Obituary

It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Rhoda Melvina (Burton) Matthews announces her sudden passing. Rhoda slipped quietly into the presence of the Lord at her family home in Baie Verte, NL on Monday, March 8th, 2021 at the age of 76 years.

Rhoda is predeceased by her husband - Malcolm Matthews (2002); parents - Melby & Jane Burton; parents-in-law - Augustus & Henrietta Matthews; brother - Harold Burton; brother-in-law - Edward Janes.

Left to cherish many wonderful memories are her children - Julie Matthews, Baie Verte, NL, Donna Morey (Archie), John Matthews (Winnie), both of South Brook, Linda Short, Lloydminster, AB, Arthur Matthews (Lisa), Carstairs, AB, Graham Matthews, Baie Verte, NL, Matthew Matthews (Tracy), Massey Drive, NL, Mavis Phillips (Jason), Baie Verte, NL, Nicole Matthews (Brian Rusnov), Kitchener, ON and Christie Drover (Brian), Spaniard's Bay, NL; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters - Mavis McKay (Rex), Loretta Morey (Silas); sister-in-law - Judy Burton as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Due to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, the Public Health Advisory and associated restrictions, we regret to announce that there will be no Public Visitation or Public Funeral Service. Pastor Jamie Rowsell conducted a Private Family Funeral Service at Foster Funeral Home, Baie Verte, NL. Interment followed at Bethel Pentecostal Cemetery, La Scie, NL.

As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rhoda's memory to a charity of one's choice.

"There will be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear, no sickness, no pain, no more parting over there - forever I will be with the one who died for me, what a day, glorious day, that will be!"

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Foster Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.
