It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Martin, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend. Born and raised in Brent's Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, Raymond was one of 14 children in the loving family of Patrick and Mary Martin (née Sullivan). He passed peacefully away on February 19, 2025, at the age of 69.

Predeceased by his parents, sisters Elizabeth, Rose (Gerry), and Ethel, and brothers Pat, Les, and Aiden (Lillian). Raymond leaves behind a large and loving family. He is mourned by his sisters Maude (Bob) and Jacinta (Bob), brothers Ben, Gerald, Roy (Tina), Joe (Phyllis), and Paul (Mary Lou), and special sister-in-law, Pauline.  He will be deeply missed by his many treasured nieces, nephews, and the countless friends and family he touched throughout his life.

Raymond was a kind and gentle soul. A witty and fun-loving man, he touched the lives of everyone he met. Known for his sharp sarcasm, warm heart, and a passion for physical activity, he brought joy and light to all who knew him. Despite a Parkinson's diagnosis over 20 years ago, Raymond continued to approach life with an unwavering determination, and a commitment to maintaining his health and quality of life. His fierce dedication to exercise was a testament to his eternal optimism, resilience and spirit.

In the mid 1990s, Raymond's journey took him from his seaside home to Flin Flon, Manitoba. Over the next twenty-five years, he forged meaningful connections with new friends, colleagues, and reconnected with immediate and extended family. Raymond loved to socialize, play cards, and share a laugh over drinks, and a good night always ended with a pizza. How many times did he say, "You order, I'll pay!"  Raymond leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories for those of us lucky enough to know him.

Raymond's journey eventually led him to Westbury Estates, and most recently 1SW Pleasantview Towers. There, he endeared himself to caregivers and residents alike through his humour and continued devotion to staying active. We are deeply grateful for the love and dedication the staff showed to Raymond, which allowed him to maintain a full and joyful life for as long as possible.

Although we were not ready to say goodbye, we are thankful for the 69 wonderful years we had to love and be loved by Raymond. He will be profoundly missed, but his kind and generous spirit left an indelible mark on us all, and his memory will remain forever in our hearts.

In accordance with Raymond's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 1st from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Church of St. John the Apostle in Brent's Cove. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at 2:00 p.m. from the Church of St. John the Apostle.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Raymond's memory to the Parkinson's Society Newfoundland & Labrador or the SPCA.
