Rachel Bridget
Comerford
Jun 18, 1944 — May 22, 2025
Grand Falls-Windsor
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful, but sudden passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Rachel Comerford on May 22, 2025, at the Long Term Care Home in Grand Falls-Windsor, at the age of 80 surrounded by family.
Rachel is predeceased by her loving husband, Gerald (2012); mother, Johannah; father, Oswald; brothers, Rhody, Nick; sister, Mary; and her daughter-in-law, Darlene.
She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and a constant source of warmth, wisdom, and grace. Her life was a tapestry woven with kindness, resilience, and deep love for those around her. She was a woman who lived simply but gave generously, always placing family first and offering comfort, laughter, and strength whenever it was needed.
Rachel will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Rhonda (Kenneth), Sharon (Corey), Gerri-Marie (Marcel), Tilly (Spencer), Carmelita, Pat and John; her grandchildren, Kiara, Robyn, Wyatt, Sarah, Hannah, Kaleigh, Victoria, Tyler, Seth, Mariah, and Jacob, each of whom she nurtured with unwavering love and support; her siblings, Betty, Kay, Stephen, Stella, Clare and Gene. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled and especially the kindness she exhibited throughout her life.
Rachel spent the early part of her life in the hairstyling business in Labrador City, before taking her love of hairdressing back to home in Riverhead, St. Mary's Bay. It is here they also opened a grocery store. Rachel and Gerry then uplifted their roots and came to Grand Falls-Windsor in 1984 to pursue the field of wedding sales and opened Tuxedo and Bridal Salon. It is in this business where Rachel's kindness thrived. She was community minded as her and her late husband donated many dresses and tuxedos over their 26 years in business. All the while supporting various families in need.
Whether sitting and enjoying a cup of tea, indulging in her sweet tooth, playing her guitar or being our family's 'Trouble' champion, she found joy in life's quiet moments. Including her love of reading and prayer. Rachel had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved, and her absence leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts.
The public visitation will take place Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 2-4 & 7-9 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.
The Church service will be held to honor Rachel's life at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, 8A Church Road, Grand Falls-Windsor Monday, May 26, 2025 at 1pm.
The Interment will occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the local Parkinson's Society , as this charity was near and dear to Rachel's heart.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.
She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
