It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Osena Mary Susan Matthews announces her passing from the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, NL, aged 54.

Osena was born on August 28, 1969 to Edgar and Julie Bath of La Scie, NL. She was the only girl, growing up with two brothers. She met John Matthews and they were soon married. Together they were blessed with two children, Katlyn and Karson.

Osena started her working life in Home Care, later moving to a position as a Pharmacy Assistant with Shoppers Drug Mart, where she stayed for 15 years.

Osena fought her illness with courage and faith right up until her family told her it was ok to go Home. Her strength and love lives on with us all.

Left with a lifetime of precious memories is husband of 28 years, John Matthews; children, Katlyn Matthews (Glenn Crick) and Karson Matthews; mother, Julie Bath (Scott Rice); brothers, John Bath and Dane Bath (Shannon Marche); parents-in-law, John and Joan Matthews; sister-in-law, Judith Critch (Max); niece, Avery; nephew, Brady; uncle, John Budgell (Patsy), as well as a large circle of cousins, extended family and countless friends.

Osena is predeceased by her father, Edgar Bath; brother-in-law, Jamie Matthews; grandparents, Herb and Lilly Budgell, Lewis and Emma Bath, as well as a number of aunts and uncles.

Public visitation will take place from The Salvation Army Citadel, La Scie, NL on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 6-9 pm.

The funeral service will take place from The Salvation Army Citadel, La Scie, NL on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 1 pm, with Major Kay Barnes officiating. Interment will follow from The Salvation Army Cemetery, La Scie, NL.

As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family.
