Passed peacefully away on March 30, 2024 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Center, Omar Jacob Edison of Botwood. He was 82 years of age.
Omar's greatest passion, outside of family, was his lifelong career as a truck driver, a tenure which spanned 50 plus years.
Leaving to mourn his daughter, Kimburley Brent; sons, Kirk, Keith (Shawna); six grandchildren, Chelsey (Daniel), Jacob (Kathleen), Jamie (Jordan), Kirklyn (Spencer), Lindsey and Karlee; four great-grandchildren, Sarah, Lauren, Max and Blair; siblings, Margaret Snelgrove, Vince (Mary) Edison, Loretta Decker, Kevin (Loretta) Edison, Dennis (Ruby) Edison, Allison Hunt, Everett (Mary) Edison, Dale (Ian) Harasymiw, Terry (Florence) Edison, Karen (Andrew) Williams and Lauree (Brian) Cottrell; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Ruby Edison; wife, Viola Mae; siblings, Evelyn Champion, Maurice Edison, Elizabeth Edison, Harold Edison and Catherine Edison; son-in-law, Thomas Brent.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
The public visitation will take place from the Botwood Funeral Home, 147 Commonwealth Drive on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
A Celebration of his Life will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 1:00 pm from the Botwood Funeral Home.
Interment to follow at the United Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Omar's memory to the Botwood Volunteer Fire Department or the Botwood Kinsmen Club, both organizations of which he was a decades-long member.
Kimburley, Keith and Kirk would like to thank Dr. Woolfrey and the nursing staff in Palliative Care for their constant care and compassion, as well as the community nursing staff with their frequent home visits. A special thank you to his home care workers, Karen Slade and Patricia Baker, who he fondly referred to as "the best girls", and especially to Aunt Allison for her years of love and devotion.
