Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Nathan Edward Hayward, who passed peacefully to his heavenly home on April 20, 2024 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, aged 77 years.

Born on June 5, 1946 in Bishops Falls, Nate lived a life of service, love, joy, fun, and wisdom, leaving a mark on all who knew him.

Nate is survived by his "dolly" Vera, son Chad and wife Sarah, daughter Stacy and husband Sam, and four grandchildren Michael, Alexis, Nathanael, and Olivia. Nate was a devoted husband to Vera for 52 years and loving father to Chad and Stacy, instilling in them the values of a loving, committed marriage, and a life of compassion and service to others. With his vast family, he was the person everyone called because "Nate will know what to do."

Nate also leaves to mourn his brothers, Pearley (Rose), Wally (Sheila); sisters-in-law, Catherine Simpson, Joan (David), & Kay (David); brother in-law, Allen (Sheila); as well as several nieces nephews, other relatives & friends.

Nate is predeceased by his parents, Malcolm & Ivy Hayward; siblings, Margaret, Harvey, Audrey, Jim, Eileen, Carl, & Cavell.

Nate had an intense passion for humbly caring for others and giving back to his family, community, and clients without an expectation of anything in return. He loved serving his Lord through his local church, Park Street Citadel, and through his 77 years included his active participation in the community with Scouts Canada, Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Canadian Bible Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, and many others.

He enjoyed making people laugh and enjoy life through ridiculous outfits, silly skits, and practical jokes, never one to mind being the end of a joke. His integrity in business and life were a testament to his extraordinary character. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a treasure trove of memories with his wide circle of family, friends, neighbours, clients, and church family.
