Mary Ann
Shelley
Mar 9, 1940 — Nov 4, 2024
Fleur de Lys
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Ann Shelley announces her passing from the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL aged 84 years.
Mary Ann Shelley began her life in Fleur de Lys on March 9,1940. In her younger years, Ann travelled to St. John's where she studied to become a school teacher. On Sept 4, 1960 Ann started her new life with her new husband Jim. They continued their happy life together and growing their family for 62 years.
Ann had many interests over the years which included lots of outdoor time from cutting wood with Jim to berry picking with her sisters and friends. Ann's most favourite past time was planting her vegetable garden and helping it grow. Ann talked to her daughter of how proud she was when she was sitting at a meal and knew that she had been able to grow most of it, with her own hands. Everyone could see the pride in her expression whenever anyone wanted to stop and chat while she worked. Another past time Ann enjoyed was having a good game of cribbage, especially when the weather didn't permit going outside to work. The game came to be known as family feud in our house, as we all tried to ensure everyone was counting their points correctly. Even though it could get heated, there were a good many stories and laughter had around the crib board. we will reminisce at our future games with happy memories and maybe a few jokes, even at her expense, as we know you would be laughing with us.
"What if you knew...would you spend it playing crib and peeling potatoes, cutting cabbage and prepping for jigs dinner? She probably would have, even if she knew."
