It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Madonna Loretta Matthews announces her passing in Baie Verte, NL, on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at the age of 78 years.

She is predeceased by her parents - Ambrose & Mary Ann Seymour; parents-in-law - Michael & Ellen Matthews; brothers-in-law - Scott Hewlett, Kevin Matthews, William Matthews; sister-in-law - Patricia Newbegin.

Madonna leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband, Charles Matthews; children - Christopher Matthews, Dave Matthews, (Sue Randell); grandchildren - Justin(Karolina), Nicholaus(Brittany), Brendan; great-grandchildren - Adela, Charlie, Lukas, Max; siblings - Loretta, Mary (Graham), Elaine (Al), Gerald (Bridget), Larry (Carolyn); siblings-in-law - Bob Matthews (Madeline), John Matthews (Joan), Gerald Matthews (Lorena), Mary Roost (David); also a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Public visitation will take place on Sunday, July 5, 2026 from 1:00PM - 5:00PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, July 6, 2026 at 2:00PM  from St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, LaScie, NL.  The interment will follow at St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Cemetery, LaScie, NL.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made to  St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Cemetery, LaScie,  NL.
