Lucas Samuel
Harvey Sacrey
May 16, 1997 — Jan 12, 2025
St. John's
It's with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lucas Samuel Harvey Sacrey ,aged 27,on January 12 ,2025 following a courageous journey.
Born in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, on May 16,1997 the 4th son of Roger and Norma Sacrey (Nee Decker). A beautiful baby boy who was loved beyond measure. Lucas grew up in Ming's Bight, NL, loving the water and being outside with his friends and his brothers. At the young age of 13 months he was diagnosed with cancer, had a kidney removed and underwent chemotherapy. It never kept him down! He grew up happy and healthy. He followed his big brothers everywhere and they protected him fiercely. Lucas was a joy (and a pain) to be around. He loved deeply and he was loved dearly. The brightest light in every room he entered. To know him was to love him.
He moved to St. John's a few years ago and hooked up a job with the Dock Yard almost immediately. A skilled millwright by trade, he approached his work with dedication and pride, earning the respect of all who worked with him.
The highlight of his life came on May 3, 2023 when his little girl was born, Renn was the light of his life and he often said to people, "isn't she the most beautiful thing you've ever seen in your entire life"? He often wondered out loud how he ever lived without her in his life. Lucas and Sam loved little Renn and the life they had together. His devotion to Sammie and Rennie was unwavering and brought him incredible happiness.
Lucas's gentle nature, sense of humour and his ability to make those around him feel truly seen will never be forgotten.
Although his bright light on earth has diminished he will live on in all of the many close friends and family who love him and especially his precious Rennie. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
"If love could have saved you, Lukie, you would have lived forever".
Left to mourn with beautiful, precious memories are his deeply loved girlfriend and best friend, Sam Wellon; his daughter, Renn; his beloved dog Token; father, Roger (Renée); mother, Norma Decker; nan, Patsy Decker who was a second mother to him; brothers, Joshua (Danielle), Aaron (Hillary) and Daniel. His adored nieces, Isabella, Brooke and Allie and nephew Easton.
Predeceased by his beloved Pop Decker (Sam) who was a second dad to him; Pop and Nan Sacrey Harvey and Cora; his very close friend, Maxwell Canning: aunts, Glenda and Mildred: and Uncle Steve, cousin David.
His friends who became brothers, Janzen, Patrick, James, Jacob, Mikey, Robert and Devin.
On his mom's side, Uncle Roger Decker (Paula); On his dad's side, uncles Boyce (Joy), Woodrow (Cavell), and Clayton (Doreen); aunts, Gertie (Willie), Nola (Keyward), Marion (Perry), Tina (Roger), Lucy and Goldie; as well as a a large circle of cousins and extended family who loved him and will miss him.
