it is with great sadness that the family of the late Loyola Matthews announces his passing on Thursday August 14th, 2025 at Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Centre, Grand Falls Windsor, NL at the age of 62.

Loyola was born in Harbour Round, NL on January 26th, 1963 to Lawrence and Nora Matthews. Loyola was raised in a large family of 10 children, times were hard, money was scarce, but family devotion was always present. There were plenty of chores to be done and lessons to be learned, of love and respect for family and neighbors. In 1986, Loyola and Cordella became a loving couple, and raised 2 children in Harbour Round, then later in life they were blessed with 4 beautiful grandchildren.

Loyola is predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Nora Matthews; Brothers, Aloysuis Matthews, Anthony Matthews, Parents-in-law, Aubrey and Olive Dyer, Brothers-in-laws, Ignatius Matthews, Ford Dyer, Harvey Blanchard, Wilton Dyer, Derick Wall, Sisters-in-laws, Beulah Dyer, Ann Matthews, Sharon Dyer.

Left with a lifetime of precious memories is his wife Cordella Dyer: Children, Son William (Erica) Seal cove, NL, Daughter Lisa Matthews (Shawn Giles), Fort MacMurray AB, Grandchildren, Summer Giles, Deseray Giles, Zack Giles, Hunter Drover. Siblings; Gerald Matthews (Leonie), Harbour Round, Barry Matthews (Carmelita), Harbour Round, Michael Matthews (Betty Lou), Harbour Round, Stephen Matthews (Leeann) La Scie, Patrick Matthews, Harbour Round, Rose Matthews, Brent's Cove, Bernadette O' Driscoll (Michael), Fort MacMurray, AB. Special little friends, Nevaeh Payne and Danielle Gillard. Brothers-in-laws, Henry Dyer (Patsy), Ben Dyer (Eva), William Dyer (Kay), Victor Dyer (Mary), Louis Dyer (Margaret), Raymond Dyer (Diane), Lester Dyer (Mildred), Sister-in-Laws; Effie Drover(Michael), Florance Regular (Claude), Melissa Regular (Aldret), Ethel Wall, and a large circle of relatives and friends.

Public visitation will take place from Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Harbour Round, NL on Sunday, August 17th 2025 from 7:00PM - 9:00PM.

Funeral service will take place from Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church Harbour Round NL on Monday August 18th, 2025 at 1:00PM
