It is with sadness that the family of the late Lester Andrew Keddie announces his passing at Dr. Hugh Twomey Centre, Botwood, NL, aged 80 years.
Left to mourn are wife Una; daughter, Esther; and grandson Jesse; Also, four stepchildren, Paulette (Craig), Wanda (Chris), Gerriann (Cory) and Robert (Lesley); five step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted (Joan), Levi (Marline), Calvin (Judy), Larry (Sue), and sister Phyllis; Step-sister, Nadine; and step-brother, Darrell.
Pre-deceased by wife Edna; mother, Leah; father, Bill Keddie; and stepfather, Joe Guest.
Lester born on June 21, 1944, in Locks Port Newfoundland and at the age of 17 he joined the Black Watch. When the Black Watch disbanded, he moved to The Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. In total he served 32 years with the military.
He married Edna Ward and had one daughter, Esther. After retiring from military life, they moved back to Glovers Harbour where he was very much involved with the church and the community. In 2012 he married Una Pearcey (better known as Princess) and settled in Point Leamington, where he remained active with the church. In total he spent 25 years serving as Men's Fellowship Chaplin.
Lester loved the Lord and was not ashamed to show it. He often prayed for family and strangers alike.
The public visitation will take place, Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm from The Salvation Army Citadel, Point Leamington, NL.
The funeral service will take place Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 1:00 pm from The Salvation Army Citadel, Point Leamington, NL with Major Larry Goudie officiating.
The interment will follow at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Glover's Harbour, NL.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Botwood Funeral Home, 147 Commonwealth Drive, Botwood, NL.
