Leah May
Hurley
Jan 4, 1943 — May 17, 2025
Seal Cove, White Bay
It is with both sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Leah May Hurley. A beloved wife, devoted mother, and the steady heartbeat of her home. Leah passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth and quiet strength.
Leah was the very definition of a homemaker – though that word hardly captures the depth of her role. Her home wasn't just a place; It was a refuge, lovingly maintained and always welcoming, with the comforting scent of something simmering on the stove and often half – finished puzzle on the table. She was always in motion, always doing – yet never too busy to offer a listening ear, a warm cup of tea or a knitted pair of mitts to warm your hands and heart. She was a loving mother who led with patience, and example. Leah will be dearly missed, but the warmth of her presence remains – stitched into the fabric of her family's lives and felt in every memory of her quiet grace.
Leaving to mourn are her sons Derrick (Pauline), Brian (Dorothy), Peter (Lisa), Thomas (Wanda). Her siblings Marion (Hubert), Doris (Clayton), Mildred (Steve). Her grandchildren Alicia (Ryan), Lacey, Dylan and great grandchild Van. Left with fond memories are brother and sister-in-laws Willis Davis, Charlotte Hurley, Beth & Alan Jacobs, Boyd & Golda Hurley, Winnie & Ross Jacobs, Wayne & Gloria Hurley, Terry & Evelyn Hurley, Larry & Delphine Hurley. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Predeceased by her parents Sidney and Blanche Banks. Husband Willis Hurley. Sister-in-law Alice Davis, brother-in-law Jim Hurley.
As a faithful servant of Jehovah, Leah had a firm trust in God's promises and looked forward with confidence to the day when "Death will be no more". She took great comfort in the Bible's promise of a paradise earth where suffering and sorrow will be things of the past (Rev 21:4).
She is now resting, safe in Jehovah's memory, and soon to awaken in a world free of pain, reunited with her love ones forever.
Public visitation will take place at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 6pm to 9pm.
The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2025, 11am from Baie Verte Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Interment to follow at the Baie Verte Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses cemetery.
