It is with profound sadness that the family of Lawrence Drover announce his peaceful passing in Baie Verte, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Harbour Round on April 20, 1934, Lar moved to Baie Verte as a young boy with his family. It was there he would build a life full of love, laughter, and quiet strength.

Lar married Marie Fitzgerald, and together they raised ten children. Their journey as parents was deeply marked by love and resilience. When their third child, Geneva, was born, they were introduced to the true meaning of unconditional love—a lesson that guided them throughout their lives. Though each of their children walked different paths, Lar and Marie's love never wavered, offering steadfast support no matter the direction life took.

A devoted family man and hard worker, Lar's quiet demeanor was his love language. He provided with care and determination, always ensuring his family had what they needed. In his younger years, Lar was a competitive dart player, winning countless trophies and enjoying every moment of the game. But he was also known for his incredible sense of humor. A natural storyteller, Lar could spin a tale faster than anyone, and with a twinkle in his eye, you always knew something mischievous—or utterly hilarious—was about to be said.

After Marie's passing, Lar felt adrift without his beloved partner, until he found companionship again with Mary, whom he fondly referred to as his "second lease on life." Together, they embraced their golden years with love and laughter.

Lar was predeceased by his cherished wife Marie, and their beloved daughter Geneva. He leaves to mourn his children: Jerry (Linda), Peggy (Paul), Rick (Kathy), Ken (Lou), Debbie (Mark), Barry (Rose), Nadine (Rodger), Tom (Stephanie), and Sandy (John); his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him pride and joy; his loving partner Mary Head; his special sister Carmel March, who was more like a daughter to him; brothers Jim (Dorothy) and Anthony (Linda); sister Sarah (Roy); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Lar lived with a quiet but profound faith. He kept God close to his heart and mind, and as he passed, it was with the same peace and trust in the Lord that guided him through life.

"God is good. I will sail the boat to the Sea of Galilee."

The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, 1:00PM from St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Baie Verte, NL.. Interment to follow at the St. Pius X Roman Catholic Cemetery, Baie Verte, NL.
