It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Julia Faustina Quigley announces her passing from the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Sunday, December 3, 2023, aged 89 years.

A life long Fleur de Lys native, Julia was well loved in her small town, known to most as aunt Julie. Despite her large family, Julia always made time for everyone.

Julia was born on February 23, 1934 in Fleur de Lys to Julia Griffen and Michael Lewis. She met Patrick Quigley and was married on July 1st, 1951 and together they raised 12 children.

Julia was known as an influencer for the arts and sports in the community. Her kids would say she had a big love for music and encouraged her children and members of the community to pick up an instrument and join in.

Her best days were spent outdoors. She was known for her beautiful garden which she generously shared with family and friends. Never one to miss out on an opportunity to spend a day in a boat jigging the biggest fish. The burnover was her second home. From the first frost, she and her friends donned their rubber boots and backpacks and trekked in over the hills, abundent with partridge berries. The income from the berries was very important as it gave her the opportunity to provide extras for her family and ensure there was a gift for everyone under the tree at Christmas.

She was a vocal advocate for education, always ensuring her kids understood the value of lifelong learning. At 48, she enrolled in trade school to obtain her GED and pursued a degree from MUN in her 50's.

Left with fond and loving memories are her children, Maurice (Kitty), Michael, Rosemary, Patrick (Victoria), Susan (Peter), Karen (Shane), Julie, Terri (Shane), Gord (Eva), Jim, Allison (Denis); grandchildren, Crystal, Danny, Richard, Raina, Dale, Sierra, Clifford, Jaime, Emily, Sancha, Dennis, Dennis, Jordan, CJ, Julie-Anne, Shanna, Roy, Tereza, Kerry, James, Jacqui, Paula, Alanna, Stephen, Shawna, Breanne, John-Adam, Patrick, Nick, Natalie, and Abigail; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Brooklyn, Mackenzie, Bridgette, Lochlan, Ila, Burton, Laine, Noah, Dylan, Jack, Izabella, Lincoln, Keith, Alex, Cole, Scottie, George, Emily, Nora, Jasper, Martin, Danny & Angus, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, Julia Griffen and Michael Lewis; husband, Patrick Quigley; son, Dennis Quigley; her siblings, Teresa, Victor, Gordon, Bob, Floss and Joan.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place.

A Wake Service will take place from St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Fleur de Lys, NL on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 7 pm.

The Mass of Christian Burial will take place from St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Fleur de Lys, NL on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 2 pm.
