It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Leroy Pinksen announces his passing at the Lionel Kelland Hospice, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Saturday, December 13, 2025,  aged 85 years.

Leaving to mourn, his wife of 67 years, Beatrice Pinksen (nee Pittman); his children: Everett Pinksen (Lorraine, aka "our girl"), Laurie Osborne (Rennie) and Paula Pinksen; his grandchildren: Jeanine Pinksen, Jessica Pinksen, Jacob Osborne, Jasmine Hoskins (Damien) and Elliot Pinksen; great grand children: Jordan Pinksen ( Mackenzie), Zander Pinksen and Lilith Hoskins; great-great granddaughter Mya Pinksen; siblings: Roland Pinksen (Gertie), Wayne Pinksen (Viola), Warrick Pinksen ( Valarie) and Scott Pinksen ( Daphne); siblings-in-law: Reginald Pittman (Louise), Allan Pittman ( Bernie), Sadie Pollard (Clarence), Gertie Pinksen, Joan Pinksen and Lester Reid as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by his parents, Nathan and Laura Pinksen (nee Elms); parents in-law: Enos and Eliza Pittman; siblings: Douglas Pinksen, Ross Pinksen and Cecilia Reid ( nee Pinksen); siblings in-law: John Pittman ( Georgine), Blanch Blanchard ( nee Pittman) and Linda Clance ( nee Pittman).

John was born in Sop's Arm. He started working when he was 16 years old. He was a logger, operator and mechanic. He could build or fix anything. He was a great provider for his family. He loved spending time in the woods, on the water, on the berry patch or helping his family and neighours. Whatever he was doing his family was always by his side, especially his wife. They did everything together. During his working life, when he had time off his priority was always to spend it with his wife and children. John's most versatile, favorite tool was his trusty pocket knife. He never went anywhere without it. He was the best husband, father and Pop we could have hoped for. He was the best friend Everett ever had. He was the only father figure his grandson Elliot had. His connection to his wife was so strong even dementia couldn't erase his love for her. He would get the framed photo of him and Beatrice from his room and show it to staff, family and visitors alike. He would point to her with a smile that conveyed the love and pride he felt for her. His love for music brought him comfort and joy even when he couldn't make sense of the world around him anymore. In his last months he enjoyed watching the wood trucks driving by.

Cremation has taken place as per John's wishes. There will be no funeral service. Internment to be held at a later date at the Anglican Church of Transfiguration Cemetery, Sop's Arm, White Bay, NL.

The family would like to thank the staff of Salmon Lane at Grand Falls Long Term Care, Lionel Kelland Hospice staff , Dr. Higgins and Dr. Campbell for their care. Special thanks to Dianna and Jeremy for showing such compassion to strangers.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.
