It is with broken hearts that the family of the late John Joseph Johnson announces his passing. John passed away from the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the age of 75 years.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories is his wife of 54 years, Veronica Johnson, Harbour Round, NL; children, Dolores Newbury (Larry), Shoe Cove, NL, Shannon Johnson (Lori-Ann), Fort McMurray, AB, Marie Batstone (Otto Shiner), Smith's Harbour, NL, Ward Johnson (Diane), Harbour Round, NL Hilda Gray (Steve), Fort McMurray, AB and Timmy Johnson (Shelly), Fort McMurray, AB; grandchildren, Dean (Alysha), Jonah, Christopher (Michelle), Shane (Kendra), Renee (Wesley), Nikita (Timothy), Nick, Lucas and Madison; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jensen, Blake, Kaylan and Savannah; siblings, Kathleen Matthews, Margaret Drover (Ambrose), Agnes Payne, David Johnson (Lillian) and Audrey Thomas (Eric); siblings-in-law, Mabel Hurley (Andy), Mary Drover (Sylvester), Evelyn Skinner (Eddie), Stanley Giles (Roxanne), Violet Fudge (Dave Haas), Junior Giles (Delores), Valerie Giles (Terry Symonds) and Roxanne Giles (Sean Payne), along with a large number of extended family and friends.
John is predeceased by his parents, Ambrose and Annie Johnson; siblings, Bridget Burton (Elijah), Josephine Wells (William), Ellen Joy (William) and Marie Lush (Robert); parents-in-law, Lester and Margaret Giles; son-in-law, Shawn Batstone; siblings-in-law, Alphonsus Matthews, Thomas Payne and Lorne Fudge.
Public visitation took place from Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Harbour Round, NL on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM. In keeping with the COVID-19 guidelines, those attending the visitation must provide NLVaxPass or proof of vaccination + photo id to attend the visitation. Masks will also be mandatory.
Father Camillus Ekedobe conducted the Mass of Christian Burial from Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Harbour Round, NL on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11:00AM. Those attending the service must provide NLVaxPass or proof of vaccination + photo ID. Masks will also be mandatory.
Interment followed at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Round, NL.
