Joan Louise Cavelle Pretty (Lane) of Grand Falls-Windsor passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL aged 78 years, with her loving children by her side.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are, her sons, Fred (Edith), Toby (Sheila), & Tyson; grandchildren, Emma (Demetri), Nicholas (Alexis), & Brady (Katie); brothers-in-laws, Jack (Mena), Herbert (JoAnne), Kenneth (Melena), Gary (Irene), Glenwell (Vera), Cecil, Ivan (Ethel), & Calvin (Martina); sister-in-law,  Janet (Freeman); as well as many nieces, nephews.  Special thanks to nephew, Johnny Pretty for ongoing family support during her difficult weeks.

Joan is predeceased by her husband, Roy; parents, John & Hazel Lane; siblings, William, Elsie, Dave, Toby, Harold, Sid, & John; parents-in-law, Alice & Stanley George.

The family would like to thank the professional medical staff at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Dr. Combden, Dr. Dean, & Dr. Marcoux, as well as the amazing nursing staff in the emergency room and on the floor 3A.  Your care, compassion, & kindness for our mother is appreciated more than you know.

Joan was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  She was a loving and dedicated wife to Roy for 51 years. Joan enjoyed hobbies such as as camping with family and friends, knitting, darts, cards, watching movies, crafts, sewing, and her pets. But most of all she loved spending special time with her grandchildren who she thought the world of.

The pubic visitation will take place, Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM & 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeal Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

The funeral service will take place, Monday, April 20, 2026 at 2:00 PM at St. Alban's Anglican Church, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL with Rev. Robin Trevors officiating.

Interment will be at a later date.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor. NL.
