It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Joan Eileen Bowers announces her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the age of 89 years.
Left with a lifetime of beautiful memories are her children, Walter Bowers, Pacquet, NL, Rex Bowers (Maxine), Baie Verte, NL, Suzanne Gillingham (Angus), Athabasca, AB, Berkley Bowers (Jenny), Grand Cache, AB, Jo-anne Pittman (Craig), Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Paul Bowers (Karla), Wabush, NL and Carol-ann Bowers (Dwayne Armstrong), Houston, BC; grandchildren, Melissa Slaney (Paul), Melanie Philpott (Brandon "B.J."), Ryan Rideout (Melissa Bealieu), Katrina Gillingham, Matthew Gillingham, Mark Gillingham, Denika Bowers (Garnett), Brandon Bowers, Janessa Bowers, Zachary Pittman, Sierra Pittman & Evan Pittman, Noah Bowers, Daniel Andrews (Erica) and Darryl Andrews (Alexis); great-grandchildren, Gracie, Kaitlyn, Azelyn, Fiona, Silas, Selena, Damian, Reilly, Bernice, Lillian, Alice and Macey; siblings, Smith Budden (Lillian), Elizabeth Burt (Daxter) and Ruth Budden; siblings-in-law, Audrey Gillingham, Howard Bowers (Joyce), Daphne Bowers, Harold Bussey (Melvie), Emeline Budden, Shirley Budden, Phyllis Budden, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Joan is predeceased by her husband, James Bowers; parents, Lubert and Grace Budden; step-mother, Mary Budden; siblings, Ted Budden, Ron Budden, Roy Budden and Evelyn Pardy (Harold); parents-in-law, James and Grace Bowers; siblings-in-law, Harry Bowers, Marion Bussey, Barbara Layte (Carl), Norma Bowers, Edna Bowers and Ewen Gillingham; nephew, Floyd Bussey.
Public visitation took place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Baie Verte, NL on Saturday, July 2, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The family has requested that visitors wear masks at all times.
A private family funeral service took place at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Baie Verte, NL by invitation only, with Mrs. Beverly Snow officiating. The family has requested that masks be worn at all times. Interment followed at First United Church Cemetery, Pacquet, NL.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Joan's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 70 Ropewalk Lane, St. John's, NL A1B 3R9.
