Joan Marie
Andrews
May 29, 1940 — Mar 19, 2026
Grand Falls-Windsor
It is with great sadness that the children of Joan Marie (Alyward) Andrews announce the passing of their dearly loved mother at the Carmelite House on March 19, 2026, at the age of 85.
Joan leaves to mourn with loving memories her son, Brian (Kelly and son Zach); her daughter, Lynn (Allan) Miller; and her two very precious grandchildren, Colin Miller (Marissa Park) and Leslie Miller, who were her pride and joy.
Also left to mourn are Joan's siblings: Mary Edwards, Margaret (Jim) Foley, and Terry (Penny Ralph) Alyward; sisters-in-law: Zillah Alyward, Kitty (Arthur) Haggett, Kay Marsh, and Sandra Andrews; brothers-in-law: Dave Furlong and John (Jack) Price; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald Andrews; her parents, Nicholas and Cecilia Alyward; her brother, William (Bill) Alyward; her sisters, Maureen Furlong and Barbara Price; her parents-in-law, George and Edna Andrews; her sisters-in-law: Ida (Leslie) Rowe, Betty Andrews, and Yvonne (Roy) Andrews; her brothers-in-law: Ernest Andrews, Melvin (Shirley) Andrews, Reginald (Eleanor) Andrews, Gerald Marsh, and John Edwards; her nephew, Keith Andrews; and her great-nephew, Connor MacLeod.
To know Joan was to love her. Her kind and caring ways were truly admirable. She always placed others before herself and was ever ready to lend a helping hand, especially when it came to her family. She loved to laugh, and her beautiful smile made her blue eyes sparkle. Her family will cherish a lifetime of treasured memories.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Carmelite House for the tender care and compassion shown to Mom, and for embracing her love of chocolate. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Union Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.
