It is with broken hearts that the family of the late James Fredrick Joseph Squires announces his passing from the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, aged 95.

Left with a lifetime of precious memories is his wife of 56 years, Margaret Squires; children, Charlie Squires (Barbara), Christene Squires, William Squires (Amanda); step-children, Minnie Clarke (Mckinnon) and Raymond Peckford; grandchildren, James, Micah, Melissa (Ben), Melinda; great grandchildren, Arianna, Aleah; siblings-in-law, Rosetta Eastman, Elizabeth Savoury (Charlie), Fred Peckford (Christine), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends.

James is predeceased by his parents, William and Elizabeth Squires; siblings, Jacob Squires (Bernice), John Squires, Charlie Squires, Martha Perry (Allan), Mona Roberts (Nimrod), Susan Squires (Harold); half-sisters, Gertrude and Evelyn; parents-in-law, George and Mabel Peckford; siblings-in-law, Effie Hodder (Frank), Francis Peckford (Joan), Charlie Peckford, Melvin Eastman and Harold Moyles.

Public visitation took place from Faith Pentecostal Church, Burlington, NL on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.

The funeral service took place from Faith Pentecostal Church, Burlington, NL on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2 pm, with Pastor David Crane officiating. Interment followed from Faith Pentecostal Cemetery, Burlington, NL.

The Squires family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors in 4A and the Emergency Department of the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor for their care and compassion during James' stay.
