Grand Falls-Windsor

Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of the late James Ernest Slaney announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, at the tender age of 6 years.

James came into this world quietly and left in the same gentle way, leaving behind a tremendous mark on all who knew and loved him. Though his time with us was far too short, he made a lasting impression on everyone he met. James had an infectious smile, and his big blue eyes and blonde curly hair captured the hearts of all—especially the ladies.

Although James was unable to speak, he had no trouble expressing what he liked and didn't like. He had a love for life that shone brightly, especially when it came to his favourite time of year—Christmas. In fact, he celebrated it all year round. Next to his family, his greatest love was Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

James was deeply loved and will be forever missed by his loving parents, Chelsey and Michael; his amazing big brother, Louis; grandparents, Maureen and Ern Hollett, and Darlene and Aloysius Slaney ; great-grandmother, Maude Cramm; uncle and godfather, Zachary Hollett (Sydney Noseworthy); aunt Kim (Mike) Joyce; cousin, Michael Joyce Jr.; godmother (Auntie Shan), Shannon (Zachary) Warford; and his devoted caregiver, Karla King. He also leaves behind his beloved Make-A-Wish puppy, Jingle, along with a large circle of extended family, honorary family, and friends.

James was predeceased by his Poppy, Jim Cramm; Nanny, Louise Slaney; and several other beloved family members.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Janeway Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation for their tremendous support throughout James's journey. Special thanks are also extended to the doctors and staff of the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre for their compassion and kindness during such a difficult time.
