It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Henry Ernest Matthews announces his passing. Henry passed away at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Friday, August 6th, 2021 at the age of 80 years.
Predeceased by his wife – Mina Matthews; parents – William and Mary Helen Matthews; parents-in-law – Robert and Lydia Mitchell; siblings – Fred Matthews, Sarah Matthews, Rita Matthews (Norman), Georgina Freak (Sidney) Blanche Shiner (Clifford), Melvina Gallant (Cyril) and Garfield Matthews; siblings-in-law – Myrtle Matthews, Chesley Mitchell and Lewis Mitchell; half-siblings-in-law – Garland Winsor, Walter Collins, Florence Collins, Norman Welshman, Eleazer Mitchell (Emma), William Mitchell (Maude) and Violet Saunders (Stanley).
Left to cherish many wonderful memories are his children – Maxine Kelly (Guy), Pauline Kelly (Larry), Eugene Matthews (Sandra), Nelson Matthews (Christine) and Colin Matthews (Tracy); 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings – John Matthews (Nellie), Walter Matthews (Gladys), Alex Matthews, Julie Bartlett (Nev) and Wesley Matthews; siblings-in-law – Eileen Winsor, Maisie Robinson (Boyce) and Janice Mitchell, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Public Visitation took place at Faith Pentecostal Church, Burlington, NL, on Monday, August 9th, 2021 from 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM, following specific guidelines pertaining to the global pandemic and associated restrictions.
Pastor Craig Lane conducted a Private Family Funeral Service at Faith Pentecostal Church, Burlington, NL on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021 at 2:00PM. Interment followed at Perry's Cove Community Cemetery, Burlington, NL.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Henry's memory to the Burlington Emergency Relief Fund.
