It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harvey Maxwell Bowne announces his passing at the Lionel Kelland Hospice, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL aged 69 years.
Harvey leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Lorraine; children, Shannon (Amy), April (Keith) Stone, Christopher (Nicole); grandchildren, Carter, Noah, Grayson, Kallie, Jack; brother, Jim; sisters, Shirley (Ken) Hoefling, Barbara (Ron) Mercer; plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
Harvey is predeceased by his parents, Lewis & Phyllis Bowne; mother-in-law, Rose Sampson; sister-in-law, Barb Bowne; & brother-in-law, Darren Sampson.
Harvey was born in Windsor on December 20, 1956, to Phyllis and Lewis Bowne. He spent his early years living a the “shoot” before his family relocated to Windsor. It was during this time that Harvey met the love of his life, Lorraine. From a very young age, the two were inseparable, and that love would continue to grow throughout their lives together.
Together, Harvey and Lorraine built a beautiful life and raised three wonderful children: Shannon, April, and Christopher, who were a constant source of pride and joy to their dad.
Harvey began his working years at IOC in Labrador City. Following that he went on to work with Exploits Welding, before eventually joining the Abitibi-Price Mill. When the mill closed in 2009, Harvey and Lorraine moved to Fort McMurray where he worked for seven years at Shell. Upon retirement, they returned home to their beloved Grand Falls-Windsor, where they were happiest.
Throughout their years together, Harvey and Lorraine were blessed with five grandchildren, who brought immeasurable happiness into their lives and were truly the light of their world. Harvey took great pride in his family and was always proud of each and every one of his grandchildren and their individual accomplishments.
Harvey was a man of many talents, a true jack-of-all-trades who could turn his hand to just about anything. He had a deep love for the woods and could often be found enjoying the peace and quiet of the outdoors. When he wasn’t in the woods, you could usually find him in his garage, where he spent countless hours working on automobiles.
In his younger years, he was known for painting trucks and cars, and there was very little he couldn’t fix, build, or figure out. His knowledge, skills, and willingness to lend a hand were qualities that made him truly special. These talents and lessons were passed down to his children and grandchildren, leaving them with memories and skills they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
Harvey will forever be remembered as a devoted husband who loved Lorraine with his whole heart, a loving father who taught his children so much and took immense pride in each of them, and a wonderful granddad whose love for his grandchildren knew no bounds. He was a man whose greatest accomplishments were not measured by the things he built or fixed, but by the family he raised, the love he gave, and the memories he created along the way.
Harvey leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories, lessons, laughter, and love. His hands may no longer be able to fix the things that need mending, and his footsteps may no longer be heard in the woods or around his garage, but his presence will remain in the hearts of everyone who loved him. His legacy lives on through his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Harvey will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
“You may no longer see him, but you will feel him in the quiet moments, in the whisper of the wind through the trees, in the memories that bring a smile through the tears, and in the love that never fades.”
