It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Grace Marjory McKay announces her passing from the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, aged 87 years.

Grace Marjory McKay (nee Morey), was born at Miles Cove on April 13th, 1936 to Herbert and Violet Morey.  When Grace was young, her parents relocated to Robert's Arm with their six children.

Grace left her family home at the age of 15 and moved to Seal Cove, where she worked as a caregiver for the Banks family.  When she was 19 years of age, she married the love of her life, Grogan McKay on January 5th, 1956.  They had five children, Bruce, Gerald, Eric, Barry, and Terry.  It was very busy raising five boys, but Grace still found time to run a small store out of her home on "the Rooms".   With their family growing, Grogan built a new home and Grace started a chip stand in their driveway.

Grace enjoyed spending time with Grogan at their camper near Springdale, where family and friends visited often and she made sure they had a lunch before they left.

In 2018, Grace moved with her husband to the White Bay Retirement Living in Baie Verte, where she resided until she passed into the presence of her Lord on August 22, 2023.

Left with a lifetime of precious memories are her sons, Bruce McKay (Gloria), Seal Cove, NL, Gerald McKay (Doreen), Grande Cache, AB, Eric McKay (Christine), Seal Cove, NL, Barry McKay (Diane), Fort McMurray, AB, Terry McKay (Dena), Fort McMurray, AB; grandchildren, Christopher (Elizabeth), Damien, Mefandwy (Joe), Willette (Ruben), Jordan (Trina), Cody (Geneva), Miles (Kylee), Victoria, Stephen (Kayla), Carla, Alisha (Chris), Emma (Perry), Terri-Lynn (Jonathon); 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Annie Campbell and Nealie Burton; siblings-in-law, Tamer Rice and Joan Morey.

Grace is predeceased by her husband, Grogan McKay; parents, Herbert and Violet Morey; siblings, Hughie Morey, Eric Morey (Jean) and Ruby Hewlett (Alec); parents-in-law, George and Bessie McKay; siblings-in-law, Ches Campbell, James Burton, Heber McKay (Agnes), Calvin McKay, Stephen Matthais McKay and Daisy Parsons (Max); grandson-in-law, Mighty Nyong.

Public visitation took place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Baie Verte, NL on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 7-9 pm, continuing on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 10-11 am.

The funeral service took place from Trinity Pentecostal Church, Baie Verte, NL on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 2 pm, with Pastors Wayne and Joy Baker officiating. Interment followed from Trinity Pentecostal Cemetery, Baie Verte, NL.
