Gloria Phyllis
Hurley
Sep 1, 1957 — Feb 16, 2026
Westport
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gloria Phyllis Hurley announces her passing on Monday, February 16, 2026, from the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Hospital, Twillingate, NL, at the age of 68 years.
Gloria was born on September 1st, 1957 in St. John's, NL to Harold and Dulcie Gale. She lived in Pumbley Cove until the age of 3 and then moved to Westport. There she met her childhood sweetheart, Wayne Hurley, whom she married on August 23rd, 1975 and raised her two daughters, Nellie and Renata. Her girls were her everything. That is, until her grandkids came along. Now, they were her pride and joy.
Gloria will be remembered as a woman of strength, generosity and deep faith. Though she could appear tough on the outside, those who knew her well knew she was an old softy at heart - kind, loyal and deeply loving.
Her door was always open. Gloria's home was a place of Welcome, Warmth and Safety, where no one ever felt like a burden. She loved to cook and always prepared more than was needed, reflecting her desire to care for others and make sure everyone was looked after.
Her hands were rarely still. Gloria found joy in knitting and crocheting, often making something for someone else. Each handmade gift was a quiet expression of her love, thoughtfulness and generosity.
Most importantly, Gloria had a strong faith in her God, Jehovah. That faith guided her life, shaped her values and gave her strength and hope. She trusted in Jehovah's promises and found comfort in knowing that he remembers those who love Him.
Gloria is deeply missed, but she is lovingly remembered with the sure hope found in the scriptures - the hope of seeing her again in Jehovah's promised new world. Until then, her example of love, hospitality and faithful endurance remains a comfort and encouragement to all who knew her.
Gloria was predeceased by her son Harold Bruce; Parents, Harold and Dulcie Gale; Grandson, Adrian Keefe; Father and Mother-in-law, Thomas and Mary Hurley; Brother and Sister-in-laws, Willis and Leah Hurley, Alice Davis and James Hurley.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 50 Years, Wayne; her two Daughters, Nellie (Paul) Easton and Renata (Chris) Keefe; Grandchildren, Maria Easton, Andon and Averi Keefe; Great-granddaughter, Addie Easton; Siblings, Brian (Glenda) Gale and Bob (Lisa) Gale; Brother and Sister-in-laws, Willis Davis, Charlotte Hurley, Beth and Allan Jacobs, Boyd and Golda Hurley, Winnie and Ross Jacobs, Terry and Evelyn Hurley, Larry and Delphine Hurley, as well as many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Dear Friends.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
The funeral service will take place on Monday, February 23rd, 2026, 2pm from Baie Verte Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Interment to follow at the Baie Verte Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Cemetery.
