It is with great sadness that the family of late Gerard Joseph Mercer announces his sudden passing at his residence in Badger NL, aged 72 years.

Gerard leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Sharon; daughters, Luanne (Trent), Laurie (Brad), & Lisa (Fred); grandchildren Bailey (Hannah), Morgan, Paige, Alex & Kyla; brothers, Gerald (Karen), Cecil (Marg), Tony (Elaine), & Bob (Linda); sisters, Mary (Ed) Murray and Barb (Clayte) Loder; parents-in-law, Freeman & Ivey Loder; sisters-in-law,s Linda (Brian) Roberts, Sandra (Brian) Butt, & Rhonda (Owen) Burt; and brother-in-law, Bob (Christina) Loder; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Gerard is predeceased by his parents, William and Elizabeth Mercer; siblings, Bernard, Jim (Jean), & Nora; brother-in-law, Bruce Budgell; son-in-law, Jamie White; nephew, Nick (Pam) Mercer.

Gerard was born in Badger NL. He worked most of his life as a logger and in his later life doing whatever he can to provide for his family. He married the love of his life on July 21st, 1973. Just last year celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. His family was his number one priority, the love he had for his girls and grandchildren was what kept him going. His greatest passions were hunting, fishing, rabbit catching, basically anything to do with the woods. His favorite hockey team was New York Islanders and baseball team was Toronto Blue Jays. To watch him watch the games were a treat. He was on the ice and field playing with the teams. The sweetest, kindest and funniest man you would ever want to meet. He will be greatly missed by all.

The public visitation will take place Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM & Sunday July 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Badger, NL.

The Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, July 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Badger, NL. In honor of our dad we will be wearing camouflauge clothing and asking those attending are welcome to wear it as well.

The interment will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Badger, NL.
