It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Gerald Joseph Saunders announces his passing in Baie Verte NL at the age of 87 years.

He is predeceased by his daughter Melinda Bright (Saunders); his granddaughter Robyn Crocker (Payne); his parents Catherine and Lambert Saunders; 8 brothers and 5 sisters. Gerald passed away June 16 2026 on the same date as his mother 29 years earlier.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his partner June Andrews; his children Zane (Cindy) and Aaron; 3 granddaughters, Miranda, Julie and Christine; his brother Martin Saunders, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Rambler Mines brought Gerald from Deer Lake to Baie Verte living in the Rambler Inn. He started Saunders Taxi in the early 1970's in which continued to the day of his death.

At Gerald's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM August 15 2026 at the Interdenominational Cemetery, Deer Lake NL

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.
