It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald Loder, who left this world on Friday August 1, 2025 at his home in Badger surrounded by his loving family. Gerald died at the age of 77 years after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gerald was born and raised in Badger and took pride in being an active member of his community. He served on the Badger Volunteer Fire Department and Canadian Rangers and was a member of the executive committee of the Badger Bomber Senior Hockey League.
Gerald leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his three daughters; Wanda (Ian) Beaton; Dianne (Jody) Russell; Helen (Karl) Saunders; Grandchildren Cameron (Brooke), Hunter (Mikayla), Dakoda (Abby), Chandler (Heidi), Claire and Cole; Great granddaughter Blayke; and his precious dog Zoey. Siblings, Freeman (Ivy), & Derrick (Diane); In-laws Marie, Joan, Ruth, Albert, along with Bill, Shirley (Garry), Hugh (Gina), Harvey (Florence), Val;
Gerald had many nieces and nephews as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. He shared a special bond with each of them. Whether it's telling jokes, sharing stories or simply spending quality time with each of them.
Pre-deceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Marilyn and his parents Gordon and Elsie Loder. His Brothers Clyde, Doug, Bruce and sister Jean. Mother and Father in-law Hugh & Mabel Day, brothers in law Gerry, George.
Gerald developed a large circle of friends throughout his life. This included people from his community, his many years working in the woods department with Abitibi and as a heavy equipment operator. Gerald was very social who enjoyed interacting with others, easily engaging in conversations, and building relationships. He was outgoing, approachable, and comfortable in a variety of social settings.
As his family, we want to send out a heartfelt gratitude to the many people in our community who have supported dad during this past year.
Special thanks to the staff of A.M. Guy Memorial Hospital in Buchans and Community Health Nurses Nicole and Ruth who went above and beyond to provide the best care for Dad.
Our lives are forever changed with the loss of our dad. Words cannot convey how deeply he was loved and respected or how much he will be missed.
The public visitation will take place Monday, August 4, 2025 at 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM from Faith Covenant Church, Badger, NL.
The funeral service will take place Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM from Faith Covenant Church, Badger, NL with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating.
The interment will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery, TCH, Badger, NL.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the family.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.
