It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Eric Keats announces his passing at his residence, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL aged 76 years.

George leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his partner, Judy; children, Jason (Karla), Tracy, Heather, Jerry; grandchildren, Brittany, Faith, Rebecca, Nicholas, Noah; great-grandchildren, Noah, Remi; brother, Wilson (Pat); sisters, Doreen (Paul), Gloria (Allan), Violet (Dave), Madeline, Lillian (Glen); plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.

George is predeceased by his parents, Albert & Janet Keats; wife, Wavey.

George spent his working years at the Abitibi Paper Mill in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL starting as a general laborer and becoming a rigger, where he was known for his strong work ethic and quiet dedication. George was always a strong-willed man who pushed himself to his own limits; sickness never stopped him. Down to Earth, he never complained. George had a very dry sense of humor that always came with a grin and big, bright eyes. George will be remembered for many things-some of them including that phone call that started with "I was thinking...". Cooking supper-whether it be his chili, chicken and rice, deep fried turkey and salad-or Sunday supper and sending it to his family, or taking his dog Luna out for a drive in his truck, driving past our houses, checking on us. His woodworking crafts he enjoyed-an easel, a boat shelf, a bird hotel, or something for Cornfield Day. Throughout his life, he enjoyed watching the NTV News Hour-because if you don't watch the news, you don't know what's going on in the world-watching hockey-especially the Toronto Maple Leafs, with Crush orange drink and cheezies. Most of all, packing up everything and going to his cabin, where he enjoyed all it had to offer-whether it be taking the mule and getting some wood, picking blueberries, or meeting up with some cabin friends. Thank you to all who were there for him in the past while-Ruth Wells, family who called or came to see him daily and made him feel surrounded with love, and to his very special Nurse partner Judy.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.

The public visitation will take place Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 7:00-9:00 pm & Friday, May 15, 2026 from 1:30-3:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL with a service to follow.

The interment will take place at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Caribou Road, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

As expressions of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lionel Kelland Hospice.
