It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Garland Watson Osbourne announces his passing from the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, aged 92 years.

Garland was born in Seal Cove, NL on June 10, 1931 to Pearce and Margaret Osbourne. He married Neta Parsons and while living in Seal Cove together they raised seven children; Roy, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Margaret, Carl, Blanche and Dwayne. Gar had a smile and a cup of tea ready for anyone who visited and in later years, was the first one up off his chair to clean up.

Gar worked in the woods most of his life. He also drove school bus for Guy J. Bailey before going on to work with the United Steel Workers at the Advocate Mines until his retirement. He loved the outdoors, and spent much of his life fishing, hunting and berry picking with his family, who he loved very much. He will forever be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are his children, Roy Osbourne (Marilyn), Elizabeth Osbourne (Clement), Evelyn Rice (Wayne), Margaret Rice (Maurice), Carl Osbourne (Mary), Blanche Park (Shawn) and Dwayne Osbourne (Vanessa); grandchildren, Darrol (Lori), Dwight (Corina), Ruth Ann (Jody), Desmond (Mandi), Draper (Lisa), Mitch, Maurice (Sherri-Lynn), Jennifer (Chris), Jenita (Matt) and Jill (TJ), great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Travis, Joshua, Reese, Eva-Lynn, Thomas, James, Brooklyn, Zander, Sierra, Anna, Madison, Owen, Isabella, Olivia; siblings, Ethel Pinksen, Alonzo Osbourne (Loretta), Warrick Osbourne (Greta), Hubert Osbourne (Marion); siblings-in-law, Elsie (Milton), Blanche, Jessie (Alymer), Bessie, Malcolm, Gordon (Sadie), John (Beverly), Garland (Glenda), Gerald (Viola), Maxine and Ruby, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Garland is predeceased by his wife, Neta Osbourne; infant son, Harry Osbourne; parents, Pearce and Margaret Osbourne; siblings, Victor Osbourne (Pearl), Laura Osbourne (Cecil); parents-in-law, Maxwell and Gladys Parsons; siblings-in-law, Eric Parsons (Daisy), James Parsons (Fern), William Parsons, Melvin Parsons, Melita Parsons, Cyril Parsons, Wallace Chaulk, James Pinksen; nephew, Roger Parsons.

Public visitations will take place from St. Swithin's Anglican Church, Seal Cove, NL on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.

The funeral service will take place from St. Swithin's Anglican Church, Seal Cove, NL on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2 pm, with Reverend Deacon Nancy Hulan officiating. Interment will follow from St. Swithin's Anglican Cemetery, Seal Cove, NL.
