It is with immense sorrow that the family of the late Garland Albert John Osmond announces his peaceful passing from the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at the age of 75 years. He was full of strength and courage.

Garland was born in Gold Cove, NL on July 1, 1947 to Peter & Gladys Osmond. As a young man, Garland found himself in Shoe Cove, NL to work as a fisherman - this is where he met and married the love of his life Alma Gray. They spent their married life raising their four children - one son and three daughters. They enjoyed the great outdoors together, from fishing, cutting wood and even skidooing together. Garland was a jack-of-all-trades who found himself working hard with whatever work arose. He loved spending time fishing, whether that be on the ocean or at a pond near his cabin. On August 7, 2022, Garland peacefully passed at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Care Center. He was full of courage and strength.

Garland was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family - seeing them all together as everyone sat at the table for a cup of tea put a bright smile on his face. Garland's five grandchildren were the light of his life. As a hard worker, Garland filled many roles - a truck driver, a driver for the mines, a fisherman, and a bus driver. Garland and Alma spent all of their time together. The cabin was their favourite place to make special memories with each other.

Garland is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Gladys Osmond; parents-in-law, Willie and Lizzie Gray; sister, Cora Davis; brother, Walter Osmond; brother-in-law, Dwight Penney.

Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 54 years, Alma Osmond, Shoe Cove, NL; children, Denise Penney (Terry), La Scie, NL, Lynn Burton (Ed), La Scie, NL, Thelma Fahey (Thomas), Shoe Cove, NL, Jamie Osmond (Carol-Ann), Deer Lake, NL; grandchildren, Candice Burton, Miranda Penney, Tanner Fahey, Bryanna Osmond, Katelynn Osmond; siblings, Elizabeth Brown (Stanley), Florence Gray (Ralph), Roy Osmond (Maisie), Maude Penney, Lillian Myette (Norm), Wade Osmond (Michelle), Pauline Gray (Randolph), Selby Osmond (Katherine), Ken Osmond (Debbie), Paul Osmond (Bonnie); brother-in-law, Garland Davis; sister-in-law, Catherine Osmond, as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and a large circle of friends.

Public visitation took place from First United Church, Shoe Cove, NL on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 7-9 pm, continuing on Thursday, August 11, 2022.

Funeral Service took place from First United Church, Shoe Cove, NL on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 2pm, with Reverend Harry Oake officiating. Interment followed at First United Cemetery, Shoe Cove, NL.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted.
