Grand Falls-Windsor

Obituary

It is sadness that the family of the late Frederick (Fred) Archibald Forsey announces his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, aged 87 years.

Fred leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 65 years, Bessie; children, Everett (Bernice), Daryl (Roxanne), & Pansy (Jerry) Loveless; grandchildren, Vanessa (Chad), Mike (Deanne), Brad (Jamie), Brent (Renee), & Kaitlyn; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Howard (Sandra); sister, Ena (Max); as  well as other relatives and friends.

Fred is predeceased by his parents, Freeman & Caroline Forsey; siblings, Bridie, Effie, Gladys, & Andrew.

Fred was employed as a logger his entire life and worked hard to provide for his wife & children. Fred wasn't a well educated man, but he was a very intelligent man. He spent many hours doing jig saw puzzles, word searches, was an avid reader who loved reading The Salvationist, Christian books and novels about Newfoundland. He was a huge Jeopardy fan and would stop whatever he was doing to watch each evening. Fred was very much known for being a fan of the NHL Detroit Red Wings team. He spent hours keeping statistics on his favorite team and sport. Despite of all of the past times he respected Sundays, it was a day of rest for him. A day he spent only attending church and resting. Fred spent time every day reading his Bible, reading devotions and praying.

The family would like to acknowledge the kindness shown to them during this difficult time. They would especially like to thank Michelle O'Reilly & staff of the Golden Years Estates, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, for their outstanding love and care shown to dad during his 3 year stay. Also, a special thanks to Ivan Welsh for spending time with him in recent months.

Due to the COVID 19 restrictions there will be no public visitation.  A private family funeral service will take place Sunday, June 28, 2020 officiated by Captains Devon & Laurie Reid with interment to follow at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Union Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.  Pallbearers were: Everett Forsey (son), Daryl Forsey (son), Jerry Loveless (son-in-law), Brad Forsey (grandson), Brent Forsey (Grandson), & Howard Forsey (brother).

As expressions of sympathy donations in his memory may be made to The Salvation Army Grand Falls Citadel Memorial Fund.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.
