It is with great sadness that the family of Edward John Randell (Ned) announces his peaceful passing at the Veterans Pavilion in St. John's on December 27, 2023, at the age of 90 years.

Ned will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

Ned was born to Josiah and Mabel Randell, on August 12, 1933, in Sop's Arm, White Bay area, and there he grew up in his early childhood years. Later in childhood, he moved with his parents to the town of Westport where he lived for most of his life, raised his family, and pursued friendships with many in the community.

Ned worked mainly as a logger until his retirement but enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, fishing, and hunting as hobbies.

He will be greatly missed and will live on in the memories of his family and friends and in the lives of the people he touched throughout his life.

He is predeceased by his parents Josiah and Mabel Randell; sister Shirley (Eric) Jacobs, wife Joan Randell, brothers-in-law Harris (Alfredia), Macmillan (Edna), and Leslie Clarke; sisters-in-law Madge (Harvey) Boone, Vivian (Hilary) Parsons, and Sadie Clarke.

Left to mourn with fond memories are his sons Edward (Georgina) Randell Jr., Josiah (Rosita) Randell, and Dean Randell, and daughter Mary (Shawn) Burton; grandchildren: Amy (Mitchell) Hart, Victoria Randell, Abigail Randell, Alicia (Andrew) De Vita, Andrew Randell, Jessica Randell, Rebecca Randell, Jessica (Daryl) Amundrud; great-grandchildren: Mazya Hart, and Wells Amundrud; sisters-in-law: Olga Noseworthy and Bridget Clarke; close family friend Hazel White and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Veterans Pavilion (St. John's), White Bay Retirement Living (Baie Verte), and Main River Retirement Living (Sops Arm), for taking such good care of Ned during his later retirement years, and the staff at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home for their kindness and compassion.

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place.

The Memorial Service will take place from St. Peter's Anglican Church, Westport, NL on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 2 pm. Interment will follow from St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery, Westport, NL.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.
