With deep love and gratitude, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dulcie Ann Hewitt, who passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born on July 28, 1935, in Westport, NL, Dulcie was the daughter of the late Ernest and Florence Jacobs.

Dulcie was a woman of remarkable character—kind, compassionate, and deeply loving. She truly cared for everyone she met, and everyone felt that love. She had a gentle, nurturing spirit and never ended a visit or phone call without saying, "I love you."

She was deeply spiritual. Dulcie faithfully said her prayers, read her Bible, and in earlier years attended church at every opportunity. She loved singing hymns and shared her voice in the church choir. As a devoted member of the Anglican Church Women group, she gave her time and love to her faith community. She taught her children to follow the Ten Commandments, instilling values of faith, kindness, and compassion that will live on for generations.

Dulcie had a remarkable artistic flair that shone in everything she did. Whether cooking, crocheting, knitting, quilting, or gardening, she created beauty all around her. She had a natural gift for putting colors and designs together. She was an exceptional cook, especially known for her amazing homemade bread, which brought comfort and joy to her family. In her garden, she used her own special fertilizer—made with eggshells and other secret ingredients—which helped her flowers grow beautifully, full of life and color.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved walking in the grass searching for four-leaf clovers—and somehow, she often found them. She also loved clothes and dressing up, always taking pride in her appearance and carrying herself with grace and dignity.

Her greatest love was her family. Dulcie loved her late husband, Raymond George Hewitt, her children, grandchildren, and extended family without limits, and she always made sure they knew it. She shared a close bond with her siblings and held a deep love for her nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to her, and those relationships brought her great joy throughout her life.

She was also blessed with a lifelong and very special friend, Ruby Hewitt (George), who became like a daughter to her. With unwavering devotion, Ruby cared for Dulcie in countless ways—helping with appointments, daily needs, finances, and personal care, while always bringing laughter and joy into her life.

Left in fond and loving memory are her children: Neal Hewitt (Kim), Kim Robinson (Roy), and Doug Hewitt (Carmen); her cherished grandchildren: Ryan, Tyler, Samuel, and Emilie; her special friend, Ruby Hewitt (George); her siblings: Hilda Jacobs and Alan Jacobs (Betty); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Dulcie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond George Hewitt; her parents, Ernest and Florence Jacobs; and a large number of family and friends.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Providential Living for their exceptional care and compassion, which brought her comfort, dignity, and joy. We also sincerely thank the staff at Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre for their care and support.

Dulcie's life was a beautiful example of love, faith, creativity, and warmth. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Her legacy will live on in all who knew her—in the love she shared, the faith she lived by, and the kindness she showed every day.

Just like she always said… "I love you."

Public Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Baie Verte, NL, from 2:00PM - 4:30PM

Funeral service will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026 from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Baie Verte, NL at 2:00PM, with Reverend Madonna Boone officiating. Interment to follow at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Baie Verte, NL.
