It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Douglas Hamlyn announces his passing from St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's, NL on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, aged 79 years.

Douglas was a loving Father, Son, Brother and Friend. His greatest joy in his life was his daughter, Renee. They were inseparable, sharing many fishing and moose hunting trips together.

Douglas also had a love of animals, especially his dogs Shep, Rowdy and Lukka and of course his daughter's horses, Rumour and Montana.

He served 34 years with the RCMP retiring in 2001 at the rank of Sergeant at his last posting in St. John's, NL.

Left with a lifetime of beautiful memories is his daughter, Renee Hamlyn (Jeff Neville), second daughter, Heather DeHann; special friend, Regina Leonard and sister-in-law, Lottie Hamlyn, as well a large circle of friends.

Douglas is predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Rita Hamlyn; brother, Harris Hamlyn and the mother of his daughter, Ester Hamlyn.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place.

The funeral service will take place from Zion United Church, La Scie, NL on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1 pm, with Reverend Harry Oake officiating. Interment will follow from Zion United Cemetery, La Scie, NL.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted.
