Darrell Gordon
Winsor
Jan 16, 1979 — Sep 25, 2023
Nipper's Harbour
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Darrell Gordon Winsor announces his passing from the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Monday, September 25, 2023, aged 44 years.
Darrell Gordon Winsor was born on January 16, 1979 to Marion and Gordon Winsor of Nipper's Harbour.
In 2004 Darrell met and fell in love with Christa-Lee Bath (in truth Christa-Lee asked him "You goin' home with me?") and they spent the last 19 years working hard to make a beautiful life together with their beautiful daughter Madison and sweet puppy Sadie.
Darrell spent the majority of his life doing one of the many things he loved; which was fishing side by side with his other half Christa-Lee. It was a joint effort; they worked together building up a family enterprise and made many great memories along the way. They loved spending their free time skidooing and just spending time together at the cabin and anywhere else they went. They were like three peas in a pod, wherever there was one, you could be sure the other two were close by. Not many people can say they enjoy cutting wood, but Darrell dwelled in it. They spent countless hours together in the woods, whether it was cutting firewood or having fires and chats with family and friends.
Darrell was a lover of anything outdoors and he volunteered many hours grooming the skidoo trails and "keepin 'er wide". A quiet man, he was a friend to all and knew everyone. Everywhere they went as a family he was sure to bump into someone he knew and he was always up for a chat. Darrell took a lot of pride in his work, and could be seen on the wharf or in the shed getting ready for the next season with his boss by his side. Even while in the hospital, he thought constantly of fishing, and talked about getting his lobster linnets ready for his new pots. He was well respected and liked by his fellow fishermen and all who knew him. As a good buddy once told him; "No one needs to show you how to catch fish."
Darrell was a great man, gone much too soon, and will be forever missed by his loving family and all who knew him. We will follow the advice he often had when measuring rope; he always gave "another little bit." Darrell proudly gave his heart to the Lord during his short illness and found peace in knowing he was going home.
Left with endless precious memories is his life partner of 19 years, Christa-Lee Bath; precious daughter, Madison Winsor; puppy, Sadie; siblings, Pauline Janes (Rodger), Paul Winsor (Lisa Rose); mother-in-law, Sandra Ward (Cecil); siblings-in-law, Chris Bath (Judy), Craig Bath (Matilda), Colin Bath (Patricia); nieces, Theresa Janes, Emma Bath, Miley Bath, Claire Bath, Sofia Bath; nephews, Trevor Janes, Joshua Bath, Joey Bath; as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, extended family and many, many friends.
Darrell is predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Marion Winsor; grandparents, Manuel and Maggie Winsor, Leslie and Hilda Noble; sister-in-law, Tanya Noble; great niece, Faith Janes; father-in-law, Tom Bath.
Public visitations will take place from The Salvation Army Citadel, La Scie, NL on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 7-9 pm, continuing on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
The funeral service will take place from The Salvation Army Citadel, La Scie, NL on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 1 pm, with Major Kay Barnes officiating. Interment will follow from the United Church Cemetery, Nipper's Harbour, NL.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted.
Darrell's family would like to thank Dr. O'Driscoll and the nursing staff of Unit 2A at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL for their care and compassion, as well as a very special thank you to Christa-Lee's mom, Sandra and Cecil for everything they have done over the past month.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.
