Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Daphne Ella May Bowers announces her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL aged 76 years.

Daphne was born in Pacquet on November 19th, 1947 to Maxwell and Julie Norman. She continued to live in Pacquet where she met the love of her life, Harry Bowers and they were married on September 5th, 1964. Daphne was blessed with two stepsons and one son. Later in life she was blessed with five grandchildren & three great grandchildren, whom she loved very much.

Daphne enjoyed gardening, knitting, walking, and spending time with family. Daphne was very involved with the town of Pacquet from serving on town council, the firettes, serving on the church board and serving as treasurer for the United Church for many years.

Left with fond and loving memories are sons, Ron (Wanda), Pacquet, NL, Roy (Denise), Churchill Falls, NL, Shawn (Vicki), Rockland, ON; grandchildren, Kayla Pilgrim, Andrew Bowers, Janella Bowers, Leah Bowers, Cindy Bowers; great grandchildren, Addison Pilgrim, Avery Pilgrim, & Benjamin Bowers; siblings, Joan Stead (John), Elvis Norman (Norma), Chestley Norman (Dale); siblings-in-law, Donna Norman, Susie Norman, Howard Bowers (Joyce); special nephews, Derrick Norman & Danny Norman who were raised as Daphne's brothers; special nieces, Julie Short and Jodie Matthews, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Predeceased by husband, Harry Bowers; parents, Maxwell & Julie Norman; siblings, Gladys Ivany, Melvin Norman, Ted Norman, Boyce Norman, Yvonne Norman; siblings-in-law, Barbara Layte, Marion Bussey, James Bowers, Audrey Gillingham; nephew, Brian Norman.

There will be no public visitation.

The funeral service will take place from Pacquet United Church on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 1 pm, with Reverend Harry Oake officiating. Interment will follow from the United Cemetery, Pacquet, NL.

Special thanks to staff of Green Bay Health Centre and Baie Verte Peninsula Health Care Centre for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society in Daphne's Memory.
